Belize - Regularisation of status

In recognition of its constitution as a state of cultural and ethnic diversity, and in a bid to reduce the number of workers outside the formal economy, the Government of Belize embarked on a program to regularize the situation of immigrants, by granting temporary work permits and citizenship, as applicable, to Central American immigrants.

The Immigration and Nationality Policy is designed to protect Belizean workers, control and manage Belizean borders, apprehend and deport those who willfully violate the laws, and improve the services of the Immigration and Nationality Department.
